One of the founding principles of Royi Sal is “care”: taking care of the world around us and the people who live in it. This is where sustainability comes into play. The path to proving ourselves responsible towards the new generations is accomplished with the choice of a sustainable approach toward the planet and the people.
Choose an Ecofriendly and Recycled Sterling Silver for Your Most Sustainable Jewelry
In this way, Royi Sal offers its customers the guarantee they need on the origin of precious metals and on their traceability throughout the production and supply chain. Royi Sal’s choice is to go even further.
Precious Metals from Recycled Sources: A World to Discover
Among the many goals related to environmental sustainability, the main one is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. This requires the analysis of one’s impacts on the environment!
In the jewelry world, one of the main factors that impact the environment is the metal supply source. Using recycled metal instead of finite virgin ores reduces air pollution by 80%, water pollution by 76%, and water use by 40%.
Eco-Silver
Silver is found in native form very rarely as nuggets, but more usually combined with sulfur, arsenic, antimony, or chlorine and in various ores such as argentite (Ag2S) and chlorargyrite (“horn silver,” AgCl).
New Technologies for Silver Recycling
At Royi Sal, we are always looking for new and more environmentally efficient ways to produce our silver jewelry.
Keeping up to date with the latest developments such as silver being found in various waste streams, for example, waste from electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE), scrap metals, spent catalysts, jewelry, silverware waste, spent plating solutions, and photographic waste.
Processes for recovering silver are well established for certain waste materials (e.g., photographic waste and jewelry scrap) and continue to improve for newer streams, such as WEEE. As these new processes develop, you will be sure to find them being incorporated into lowering our business’s carbon footprint where ever possible.
As silver rarely forms in nuggets, but when it does, this is what it looks like. Pure silver is highly prone to tarnishing by reacting to the sulfides in the atmosphere, leaving a gray or black residue. Certain polishes and solutions are able to remove tarnishing.
Our silver is made of 99% recycled and scrap silver products. Eco-Silver is made by melting down silver items that have been sold for bullion and reforming them into sheet metal and wire. Eco-Silver can be both treated and worked with in the same way as newly mined silver for the same quality results but is far more environmentally friendly.
Benefits of Sustainable Jewelry to the Customers
Market analyses tell us that millennials and Gen Z, who are driving 85 percent of global luxury sales growth, are oriented not only to the aesthetics of the product but also to its intrinsic value, particularly to the sustainable approach with which it was created.
Where Do The Precious Metals Use By Royi Sal Come From?
The materials may come from different countries, depending on availability, provided that traceability is guaranteed. The origin of precious metals involves several countries, mainly Europe, North America, and Southeast Asia.
Our Supply Sources
Recycled metals can be supplied from processing waste of industrial components, jewelry/silverware, electronics, the recovery of plating solutions, or from divestment.
How Can I Be Sure That Precious Metals Are Recycled?
Among the different modalities, RJC certifications are the most known and recognized internationally.
RJC: RESPONSIBLE JEWELLERY COUNCIL The Responsible Jewellery Council is a non-profit organization founded in 2005 with the mission to promote responsible practices in the processing of precious metals and diamonds from an ethical, social and environmental point of view, respecting human rights, from extraction to sale. RJC is the entity that can issue CoP and CoC certifications.
CoP: CODE OF PRACTICES It is one of the two certifications issued by the RJC which establishes responsible practices for business ethics, human rights, the social sphere, and environmental issues. Royi Sal, through its supplier selection practices, verifies that the metals they procure are exclusively recycled.
COC: CHAIN OF CUSTODY Thanks to this certification, we are able to guarantee the integrity and check every single step from source to retail of the entire production chain. Each link of this chain is critical to ensure that the metals are tracked and come only from certified sources. The CoC standard defines the requirements for the creation of the chain of custody of precious metals from the source to the final consumer, ensuring that the various stages from processing to marketing take place in a responsible manner. Everyone in the CoC applies the standard principles and requirements, which are regularly verified by independent RJC-accredited audit firms.
Each step in the chain is traced through the Transfer Document (the document enclosed with the material that represents the connecting link that continues the chain).
Thanks to the CoC certification, we are able to trace every single step of precious metals within our production chain.
All precious metals used by Royi Sal are 100% RJC CoC compliant and 100% from recycled sources (Au, Ag, Pt, Pd, Rh).
Royi Sal is one of the companies operating in chemistry and metallurgy serving the jewelry and fashion accessory sectors able to certify, through the Chain-of Custody of the Responsible Jewellery Council, that its alloys, powders, and plating solutions are made only with precious metals (Au, Ag, Pd, Pt, and Rh) coming from 100% recycled sources and within the Chain of Custody.
